Bio
Welsh melodic rock band Powell-Payne released their debut album “Voilà” on December 6th, 2024, via Frontiers Music Srl, introducing themselves to the melodic rock scene with a collection of heartfelt songs, powerful melodies and a sound rooted in the classic AOR of the 1980s.
Vocalist Adam Payne describes the album as “a collection of powerful tracks mixed with some good old fashioned melodic rock with a tip of the hat to 80's giants.”
Formed in 2022 by Mark “Penfold” Powell (ex-drummer of Psycho Kiss) and Adam Payne (former vocalist of Airrace), Powell-Payne's journey began with a single goal – to create a heartfelt song dedicated to their lost loved ones.
Mark and Adam subsequently brought in Aydan Watkins (Guitar) and Alex Anderson (Bass) to complete the line-up, establishing the quartet and allowing the band to develop their sound and take their music to the next level.
Since the release of “Voilà”, Powell-Payne have been building their presence as a live band, bringing their music to audiences and establishing themselves as an active part of the melodic rock scene. With a growing catalogue of songs and a desire to reach new audiences, the band are continuing to make their mark both on and off the stage.
Now, Powell-Payne are looking ahead to their next chapter with the upcoming release of their highly anticipated second album, “Encore”, scheduled for 2027. Building on the foundations of their debut, the new record promises another collection of genuine melodic rock, combining memorable hooks, powerful performances and the emotion that has become central to the band's identity.
With new music on the horizon and major live appearances planned throughout 2027, Powell-Payne are looking forward to taking the next step in their journey, reaching new audiences and continuing to fly the flag for Welsh melodic rock.
